Schlather Insurance celebrated their 54th anniversary in 1998. Schlather Insurance got its beginnings in 1945 when Bernard P. Schlather purchased a small agency from Howard Stanford and built the business into a full-service agency complete with auto, home, life, and health. Based in Elyria, Ohio, Schlather Insurance is located within minutes of the business districts of Lorain County cities, as well as, those of western Cuyahoga County.
Sons William and David purchased the agency from their father in 1985. With this acquisition they have committed themselves to helping the businessman, as well as, the homeowner for all their insurance needs.
The brothers acquired the Sponseller-Peterson Agency which is located in Wellington. There they can service the needs of Southern Lorain County. By offering farm insurance to the local farmer, they can see to it that businessmen and farmers alike can have the insurance that meets their needs. The Schlather Insurance Agency has also acquired the Demby Insurance Agency. The Demby customers have been integrated into the Schlather system and with this addition, we can offer more options to the consumer.
